A National Garden and eminent viewing spot for the popular cherry blossoms which bloom from late March through April, the Shinjuku Goyen Garden was formerly a private residence and covers 144 acres. Managed by the Ministry of Environment, it features three garden styles: French formal, English landscape and Japanese traditional. On the property is an information center, art gallery and a traditional tea house and restaurant. If you're visiting in early November, don't miss the Chrysanthemum Exhibition. With 20,000 trees and a greenhouse (currently closed for remodeling, scheduled to reopen in 2011) with over 2000 tropical and subtropical plants, you are sure to get back to nature in any season.
